Zen Yoga

Zen Yoga embodiment circles are 90mins in duration and includes centering mindfulness practices, yoga, and guided relaxation to end. An optional head massage using home-blended aromatherapy oils is offered at the end of each circle. Zen Yoga places equal emphasis on three elements:

physical alignment|flow of energy in the body|mindful awareness

This class is for you if you are looking for a practice of Embodied Awakening in a circle of community, where you learn to befriend mind and self by observing life and experience as a process of constant change.

During a Zen Yoga class we anchor into our body, noticing sensations that arises. Arriving into the body, we can begin to fully experience ourself. Focusing on alignment, we learn how our posture influences our state of mind and our energy flow. Moving in our body with intention, we come to experience energy, which we also call ki, as a life force that can be nourished and renewed. In Zen Yoga, we focus on two dimensions of energy; working with the meridians, energy as it relates to health and wellbeing, and energy as it relates to non-dual awareness.

In Zen Yoga practice, we aim to grow in awareness of self as part of an interconnected whole, quieten the mind, feel compassion for the experiencing self and begin to awaken to the entirety of a reality we are present for.

Classes are mixed ability and ideal for beginners & intermediate level, with modifications offered for those with restricted movement. A yoga mat is required and a bottle of water for hydration. if required, mats can be purchased at your first class. No special clothing necessary – think comfort and stretchy. For relaxation, you may wish to bring a blanket.
