A Circle is a Shape with Infinite Edges
This is an open letter of thanks to everyone that has shared space with me since the circles started.
Having started out last autumn with no other ambition in mind (& heart) than for Life to use me as she saw fit, I fast forward to this present moment, a third term concluded and summer break well underway, considering myself to have been well used.
From opening up to the stream of the unknown, a spirit of community shaped by collective practice is slowly emerging. I have been surprised by you – yes, you – showing up as you have done to explore your interior and exterior edges alongside me, a virtual stranger to you. For allowing me and the circle to serve as a witness for you, I thank you. You have been witnessed softening into yourself.
And what a blooming honour – a true privilege – to introduce you to some new novel ways into you. Into this body of yours that is a revelation, a place where healing can take hold.
I thank you for letting me share some of my obsessions, like hip openers of which we do a fair few, toying as we do them with the proposition of setting down barricades that keep our edges rigid. Invitational deep stretches that when extended, spell out surrender.
Tending to the garden of the mind, we have walked through meadows together, identifying the hardy self-seeders by their common names. ‘Sensation’. ‘Emotion’. ‘Thought’. Tuning into ourselves and everything we are experiencing. Listening and listening again, till Awareness is loudest, centred in our attention.
The body is holy ground. My intuition leading up to starting the circle was that the combination of aromatherapy oils and massage would introduce another level of deepening. Communicating directly with the nervous system through the olfactory system, helping to map another route for releasing residual tension within the body-mind, to finding home in our self.
I have been assisted weekly by guest plant teachers. Some plant elders I have introduced to you include Cedar (Cedrus atlantica) for courage and fortitude, Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) to soothe stress and introduce cheer, Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) for those, like me, with alpha leanings that need a helping hand to balance and reconnect with self, Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) a masterclass in relaxing and letting go, and Sandalwood (Santalum album) the powerhouse that grounds, harmonises and liberates.
I hope the circle has served as medicine for you in some small way, and has offered in a greater way a clear mirror to view yourself in. The circle belongs to those that carry its shape.
My ambition has not so much evolved over the past three terms, as fleshed out. My intention remains to be well used, doing this by holding open portals for people to step through to experience timeless awareness. To facilitate a deepening into self that is nurturing, affirming and renewing, and reverence of the magnificent body vessel travelling through the cosmos, moving through realities of its own choosing.
